Ministry of Foreign Affairs Employee Fined for Purchasing and Storing 'Child and Adolescent Obscene Videos'

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] A Ministry of Foreign Affairs employee who downloaded and stored child and adolescent pornography videos was sentenced to a fine by the court.
The Criminal Division 13 of Uijeongbu District Court (Presiding Judge Jung Sung-kyun) announced on the 7th that "Employee A of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who was indicted for violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse (possession of obscene materials), was sentenced to a fine of 5 million won and ordered to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program."
In the judgment, the court stated, "A's crime seriously distorts sexual perception regarding children and adolescents and can provide inducement for the production of obscene materials, so the crime is not light," adding, "The sentencing considered that A admitted to the crime and has poor health."
A was indicted without detention on charges of downloading and storing 126 child and adolescent pornography videos on his home computer from March to May last year.
