KOTRA Holds Online Forum on Overseas Carbon Market Trends and Entry Strategies
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] KOTRA will hold a forum on overseas carbon market trends and strategies for Korean companies' entry on the 8th. Conducted online, this forum will discuss strategies for Korean companies to respond to the global carbon neutrality trend emerging as a new international order and ways to create new business opportunities in the low-carbon economy era.
As carbon neutrality has become a hot topic worldwide, institutional efforts at the national level are being concretized, such as the introduction of the European carbon border tax. In the private sector, participation in RE100 (a global campaign to switch 100% of corporate electricity use to renewable energy) and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, a non-financial factor, are spreading.
Experts from Korea and abroad in the overseas carbon market field will participate as speakers in this forum to explain ▲recent trends and prospects of the overseas carbon market ▲linkage plans for technology demand in developing countries ▲promising market entry strategies and cases.
Labor Moon, Senior Research Fellow at the Korea Energy Economics Institute, who will present on trends and prospects of the overseas carbon market, plans to focus on the recent global carbon neutrality response trends and the necessity of cooperation between countries and companies for entry strategies. Su-kyung Lee, Senior Researcher at the Green Technology Center, will discuss linkage strategies for technology demand in developing countries, emphasizing the importance of portfolio strategies for securing funding and analyzing success and failure cases.
Additionally, government officials from promising countries for overseas projects such as Vietnam and Mongolia will directly guide local greenhouse gas reduction policies, procedures, laws, and systems, while domestic environmental specialized companies will share their overseas business experiences and secrets based on actual cases.
Yoo Jung-yeol, President of KOTRA, said, "Global carbon neutrality, emerging as a new international order, is a business opportunity for our companies," adding, "KOTRA will support our companies to successfully enter the overseas carbon market."
