Seoul City Offers Internships at 44 Public Institutions for 62 Career-Interrupted Women... 'Seoul Women Up'
62 Certified Professionals Undergo 4-Month Internships at Public Institutions... Employment Counseling and Placement Support Included
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Sixty-two women with professional certifications such as nursing assistant, social worker, career counselor, librarian, and computer specialist, but with interrupted careers, will begin on-site training at 44 public institutions in Seoul starting from the 8th through the ‘Seoul Women Up Internship Program’.
After completing online pre-job training from the 1st to the 6th, participants will undergo four months of on-site training at public institutions including Seoul City, regional general hospitals, daycare centers, women’s workforce development agencies, investment-funded institutions, and privately commissioned institutions. After completing the training, they will receive support for employment counseling and job placement.
On the 6th, Seoul City and the Seoul Women’s Capability Development Institute announced that the selection of the first cohort of ‘Seoul Women Up’ participants was completed following document screening and interviews in August. To commemorate Career Interruption Prevention Day on the 7th, Seoul City will hold the inaugural ceremony for the first ‘Seoul Women Up Internship.’ A talk concert aimed at preventing career interruption and raising awareness will also be held. All events will be broadcast live online.
The Seoul Women Up Internship inaugural ceremony will proceed in the order of a video congratulatory message from Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, introduction of the Women Up internship system, appointment certificate presentation, and a special lecture by former Kyunghyang Shinmun senior reporter Yoo In-kyung.
The talk concert for raising awareness on career interruption prevention, themed ‘From Career Interruption to Career Expansion,’ will feature stories of women who turned career gaps due to marriage and childcare into opportunities for a successful comeback. It will be hosted by Hong Hyun-jin, co-CEO of ‘W-Plant.’ Panelists include Ahn Ja-young, head of the childcare counseling team at ‘Growing Mom,’ Lee Min-jung, CEO of ‘Actually Amazing Photo Studio,’ Jung So-ryeong, author of ‘Mom Childcare Study,’ and Ahn Hyo-kyung, PM of ‘Dear Round.’
