Post Office 'Altteul Phone 10,000 Won Happiness' Plan... Communication Fee Support for 1 Year for the First 1,000 Customers
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] The government has launched the 'Post Office Altteul Phone Ten Thousand Won Happiness' plan and will fully support the communication fees for 1,000 people on a first-come, first-served basis for one year. Starting this month, the government will revise and implement guidelines to protect Altteul Phone users and work with the Altteul Phone industry to enhance user benefits.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 5th, the Korea Post Service will launch the 'Post Office Altteul Phone Ten Thousand Won Happiness' plan for subscribers of the Post Office Ten Thousand Won Happiness insurance from the 6th to the 30th of this month, in cooperation with Post Office Altteul Phone partners, to support communication fees for vulnerable groups. The Ten Thousand Won Happiness insurance is a public injury insurance for low-income groups below the near-poverty line. Subscribers pay a premium of 10,000 KRW for a one-year term and 30,000 KRW for a three-year term, with the remaining premium supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT (Korea Post Service).
The newly launched Ten Thousand Won Happiness plan offers a basic fee of 13,200 KRW, including 4GB of LTE data (with unlimited 400kbps data after depletion), voice calls, and text messages. Communication fees will be fully supported for one year after subscription. From the 13th month, the basic fee of 13,200 KRW will be automatically charged. The Ten Thousand Won Happiness plan is available to anyone maintaining a subscription to the Post Office Ten Thousand Won Happiness insurance and can be applied for at 1,500 Altteul Phone sales post offices nationwide.
Additionally, the Ministry of Science and ICT will revise and implement the 'Altteul Phone User Protection Guidelines' in September. Established in November 2014, the guidelines outline the obligations Altteul Phone providers must follow to protect users at each stage, including subscriber recruitment, subscription, and service provision. The Ministry collected opinions from providers throughout August.
The revision reflects the fact that identity verification through private electronic signatures is now possible when activating communication services. Furthermore, providers will be required to periodically verify, through self-selected methods such as full sales monitoring, whether they properly explain contract terms to users when concluding contracts.
