Attending the press conference were Ha Won-ho, Standing Representative of Gyeongnam Solidarity; Song Mi-ryang, Chairperson of the Labor Party Gyeongnam Provincial Party; Lee Jeong-ok, Co-Executive Director of the Gyeongnam Green Party (provisional); Noh Chang-seop, Chairperson of the Justice Party Gyeongnam Provincial Party; Park Bong-ryeol, Chairperson of the Progressive Party Gyeongnam Provincial Party; and Cho Hyung-rae, Head of the KCTU Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters.
The KCTU stated, "Kang was found to have violated laws including speculation in a full-scale investigation of real estate transactions conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, and on the 24th of last month, he was advised to leave the People Power Party leadership. Even before the land speculation issue involving LH employees and social elites surfaced in February, we submitted a request for investigation into various suspicions such as real estate speculation, illegal gift transfers, preferential treatment in work allocation, and involvement with organized crime."
They continued, "Even though six months have passed and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission has announced its suspicions, the progress and whereabouts of the investigation by the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency remain unknown to residents and civil society. If an investigation has been conducted, the results should be disclosed and a legal judgment made. If it has been neglected or only superficially monitored, the residents’ strict judgment and disposition should be awaited," criticizing the situation.
