Establishment of 'ESG Committee' Centered on External Experts to Secure Expertise in Each Field

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Lotte Homeshopping held an ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) management declaration ceremony at its headquarters in Yangpyeong-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the 30th and announced the establishment of the 'ESG Committee.'
The event was attended by Lotte Homeshopping CEO Lee Wanshin, ESG Committee Chairman Kang Cheolgyu, and other related personnel. At this event, Lotte Homeshopping declared ESG management focusing on establishing an environmental management system, fulfilling social responsibilities, and establishing an ESG management system. The 'ESG Committee,' responsible for advising on overall ESG activities and conducting regular implementation checks, was also launched. To secure expertise and independence, it was composed of nine external experts, and plans to further strengthen expertise in each field in the future.
Detailed execution plans for each area were also announced. In the environmental sector, they will establish an environmental management system through 'collaboration with upcycling companies' and 'international standard certification of the environmental management system.' In the social sector, they promised to actively fulfill social responsibilities such as 'consumer protection,' 'co-growth with partner companies,' and 'expansion of social contribution activities linked to local communities.' In the governance sector, they plan to establish a transparent and ethical ESG management system to become a sincere and trusted sustainable company. Activities that have been carried out in each field such as environment, social contribution, and management transparency will be further systematized through the ESG management declaration, and a roadmap for each area will be established and checked monthly together with the ESG Committee.

Meanwhile, Lotte Homeshopping formed an in-house dedicated team last month to handle ESG-related tasks. Since 2019, it has introduced eco-friendly materials such as biomass polybags, paper tapes, and paper cushioning materials throughout the packaging and delivery process, and is actively participating in solving environmental issues by launching an urban forest creation project to plant a total of 500,000 trees by 2025 to reduce fine dust. In response to the COVID-19 situation, it is also carrying out win-win activities such as industry-leading financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises, non-face-to-face store consultation, overseas expansion, and support for resolving labor shortages.
