Cumulative COVID-19 Cases in Gwangju Surpass 4,000 Mark
18 Confirmed Cases in One Day as of 6 PM on the 28th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The cumulative number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the Gwangju area has entered the 4,000 range.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 28th, as of 6 p.m. that day, 18 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19 and were classified as cases number 3983 to 4000.
As Gwangju City installed a screening clinic in Wolgok-dong, a densely populated area of foreigners, and conducted tests to block the spread among foreigners, 7 people (cases 3989 to 3994 and 3996) were confirmed infected with COVID-19.
Regarding a high school in Seo-gu, 2 people (cases 3986 and 3987) were also confirmed positive. All were confirmed while in quarantine. The total number of confirmed cases related to that high school is 18.
There were also consecutive confirmed cases who had contact with or were related to confirmed cases from other regions.
Case 3983 was confirmed to have had contact with Suncheon case 606, and case 3984 with Cheonan case 2404. Case 3999 was related to Busan case 11175.
Case 3998 was classified as related to a restaurant/sauna influx from the Seoul metropolitan area and was confirmed positive after showing symptoms during self-quarantine and undergoing testing.
Case 4000 was related to a medical institution in Gwangsan-gu. The case tested positive during cohort quarantine. So far, a total of 18 people have been confirmed positive related to the Gwangsan-gu medical institution.
Cases 3985, 3988, and 3995 are all confirmed cases with unknown infection routes. Related to case 3995, case 3997 was also confirmed positive.
In Gwangju, since the first confirmed case on February 3 last year, it has taken 573 days to reach a cumulative total of 4,000 confirmed cases. There are 3,783 local infections and 217 imported cases.
A total of 1,658,676 people have undergone COVID-19 diagnostic testing. 3,714 people have recovered and been discharged, and 261 are receiving isolation treatment. There have been 25 deaths.
It has been confirmed that 83,266 people had contact with confirmed cases, and currently 3,602 people are in isolation.
