As of 9 PM, 1,629 New COVID-19 Cases Nationwide... 53 Fewer Than Previous Day

According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, a total of 1,629 new confirmed cases tested positive for COVID-19 from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day. This is 53 fewer than the 1,682 cases recorded at the same time the previous day. Compared to the 1,753 cases recorded at 9 p.m. a week earlier on the 20th, it is 124 fewer.
Looking at the regions where confirmed cases were reported that day, 1,103 cases (67.7%) were from the metropolitan area, and 526 cases (32.3%) were from non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, Seoul reported 536 cases, Gyeonggi 475, Incheon 92, Daegu 73, Busan and Chungnam each 63, Gyeongnam 53, Daejeon and Gyeongbuk each 47, Gangwon 41, Chungbuk 32, Jeonnam 25, Ulsan 22, Jeju 21, Gwangju 20, Jeonbuk 18, and Sejong 1.
Since there is still time left until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced as of midnight on the 28th is expected to increase to the 1,700s, possibly reaching around 1,800. On the previous day, 159 cases were added after 9 p.m., closing at a final count of 1,841.

The daily confirmed cases have maintained four digits for 52 consecutive days since recording 1,211 cases on the 7th of last month, and the 28th will mark the 53rd day.
