NC Overhauls 'Blade & Soul 2' System Amid User Backlash
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] NCSoft has officially apologized and initiated a system overhaul after receiving a flood of complaints from users regarding the service of its new MMORPG 'Blade & Soul 2 (BNS2)'.
On the 27th, NCSoft announced the revamp of the 'Spirit Energy System'. Spirit Energy is a system that grants effects such as increased additional experience gain rate, increased additional currency acquisition rate, and the ability to obtain non-bound (tradeable) items.
NCSoft faced criticism for inducing 'excessive spending' from users immediately after the release of BNS2.
Before the revamp, Spirit Energy could be activated by using the 'Shining Spirit Stone' item included in the season pass or by using the 'Spirit Stone Crystal'. Users who did not purchase the season pass could not receive experience and currency buffs except for the duration of the 'Spirit Stone Crystal' item and could only obtain bound items.
With this revamp, all users will be able to obtain tradeable items regardless of whether they purchase the season pass product. This resolves the major inconvenience for non-purchasing users, who had difficulty using the marketplace through gameplay alone.
As compensation for user inconvenience, NCSoft will provide all users with 300 'Spirit Stone Crystals'. Users who previously purchased the season pass will be able to stack Spirit Energy effects after the revamp. Additional compensation includes 10 each of 'Shining Soul Summon Scroll (11 times)' and 'Shining Guardian Spirit Summon Scroll (11 times)'.
