At the control tower of Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, on the 26th (local time), a U.S. soldier guarding the area is holding a sign notifying the closure of the airport entrance while setting up barbed wire.
The Islamic militant group Taliban, which has taken control of Afghanistan, placed government officials who were in talks to form a new government under house arrest, CNN cited sources on the 26th.
According to the report, on the 23rd, the Taliban confiscated weapons and vehicles from the security team of former President Hamid Karzai.
On the 25th, the Taliban also searched the residence of Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the Afghan High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), and seized his security team and vehicles as well.
A source stated, "Both individuals are effectively under house arrest without security guards."
