[Full Text] Yoo Seung-min Declares Presidential Candidacy... "Let's Move Forward on the Bold Path of Hope"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, a presidential candidate from the People Power Party, declared his candidacy on the 26th, promising to be a "competent president who can solve the problems of the era."
At the presidential campaign office that day, Yoo said, "I will not make sweet, sugar-coated promises," and pledged, "I will bravely carry out the necessary reforms for all of our bright future."
He emphasized that he is a 'prepared candidate' strong in future, economy, and security.
Below is the full text of Yoo Seung-min's declaration of candidacy.
Dear fellow citizens,
I have had a long-standing dream.
A dream to build a prosperous Korea, a strong Korea.
A dream to create a better tomorrow than today.
To realize this dream, Yoo Seung-min is challenging himself to become president.
I have no selfish desire for the power of the presidency.
However, my will and passion to solve the problems of our time are stronger than anyone else's.
I clearly saw how miserable the country and its people become when politics fail during the IMF crisis.
That is why I entered politics.
Like a lotus blooming from the mud, no matter how much criticism I receive, the power to change the world lies in politics.
I have pursued politics with this belief alone.
Fellow citizens,
Every past president was inaugurated amid the applause of the people.
However, no president has ever left the Blue House to the applause of the people.
President Moon Jae-in also failed.
The fact that there has been no successful president is a misfortune for the country.
Korea will succeed only when we elect a successful president.
Choose me, Yoo Seung-min, as your president.
I will be the president who rewrites Korea's history of success.
Yoo Seung-min does not make sweet, sugar-coated promises.
I will bravely carry out the necessary reforms for all of our bright future.
Fellow citizens,
Low growth, low birthrate, and inequality have worsened during the COVID-19 crisis.
If we continue like this for another five years, and then another five years, Korea will collapse.
We must revive the economy first to see hope for solving low birthrate and inequality.
I will revive the economy first and create jobs.
I will turn our economy, which has been declining for the past 30 years, into a 'growing economy' again.
I will develop one million innovative talents as a new growth engine.
I will win the semiconductor war and dominate the world.
I will build a semiconductor future city leading non-memory semiconductors in the southern economic zone that encompasses Yeongnam and Honam.
Wealthy welfare states like Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark succeeded in labor reforms during economic crises.
If Yoo Seung-min becomes president, I will persuade labor and businesses to achieve a grand tripartite agreement that makes labor flexible while simultaneously strengthening the social safety net.
And I will realize 'fair growth.'
I will ensure that every citizen enjoys the constitutionally guaranteed 'human dignity and value, and the right to a humane life.'
I will build a warm community that shares the fruits of growth with the underprivileged.
I will create a country where even if you lose in competition, you are guaranteed a chance to rise again.
I will build a country where people with disabilities can live without discrimination and inconvenience.
I will create one million social service jobs to build an economy where growth and welfare go hand in hand and sharing leads to growth.
I will create a fair society where parents without money or power can receive good education and succeed by their own abilities.
I will prevent the harms of monopolies and economic concentration to create a market economy with fair and free competition.
I will implement pension reform so that today's 20s, 30s, and 40s can receive pensions.
The real estate problems ruined by the Moon Jae-in administration have driven many citizens into despair.
No matter how hard you work, if you have nothing inherited, you cannot buy a home and must worry about the rental crisis.
If I become president, I will tackle housing prices and rental issues first.
I will immediately increase supply and consistently push policies to lower real estate taxes to solve the real estate problem.
Carbon neutrality is the path we must take.
I will drastically reduce coal power and replace it with nuclear power.
The government will support companies and citizens to reduce their burden in the process of achieving carbon neutrality.
Dear fellow citizens,
As commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Yoo Seung-min will build a strong military that wins whenever it fights.
I will develop autonomous defense capabilities that no one dares to challenge.
I will build a country that respects and honors soldiers.
I will take full responsibility for the heroes who dedicated and sacrificed for the country, including veterans of the Korean War and Vietnam War, the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, the Cheonan sinking, the Yeonpyeong bombardment, the Mokham landmine provocation, and the K9 self-propelled artillery incident.
I will introduce a Korean-style G.I. Bill to support education, employment, housing, and national pension for soldiers who have completed their mandatory service.
I will not be swayed by North Korea.
I will always be ready to talk with the North for denuclearization, but will secure strong deterrence against North Korean nuclear weapons through U.S.-Korea nuclear sharing and firmly establish missile defense and kill chain systems.
I will stand proudly before China and Japan.
While cooperating on economy and security for national interests, I will never tolerate infringements on our sovereignty and history.
I will restore the trust of the Korea-U.S. alliance, which has bled together, and protect stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia together.
Fellow citizens,
Article 1 of our constitution declares that Korea is a democratic republic.
Since Article 1 of the 1919 Shanghai Provisional Government Charter, our ancestors dreamed of a democratic republic.
However, we have not yet created a true democratic republic.
Fake progressives are trampling on constitutional values.
Those who claim to have fought for democratization are trying to suppress freedom of expression and freedom of the press.
I will break the hypocrisy that only talks and create a world of equal freedom and fair justice.
I will build a country where human rights, life, safety, and the rule of law are protected.
I will create a world that transcends hatred, conflict, hatred, and discrimination, where we recognize and respect each other.
I will build a safe world where people of all ages can live with peace of mind.
I will reform systems and practices so that subcontracted workers in industrial sites no longer suffer tragic sacrifices.
Dear fellow citizens,
Politics is policy.
What kind of world will we create?
This is the essence of politics, and this is policy.
Isn't the entire nation vividly experiencing the pain of real estate and job crises caused by the policy failures of the Moon Jae-in administration?
Only those with a clear vision, philosophy, and policy are qualified to be president.
If an unprepared person becomes president based on image alone, another failed president will emerge.
In this election, which determines whether Korea will leap forward or fall, will you repeat the same failures as past elections?
We must stop voting out of hatred for someone.
We must create a stronger Korea for our descendants to live better lives.
Yoo Seung-min is a verified candidate.
Only Yoo Seung-min is a prepared president who knows how to revive the economy, create jobs, stabilize housing prices, help the underprivileged, and protect the lives and safety of the people from external threats.
A competent president who can solve the problems of the era,
a president with vision, philosophy, and policy to build a prosperous and strong country,
a dignified president who can be proud anywhere in the world,
the answer is Yoo Seung-min.
To the citizens who want regime change and party comrades!
If you truly want regime change, please choose the strongest candidate who can fight and win against the Democratic Party candidate in the March 9th final election next year.
Yoo Seung-min is strong.
Strong for the future.
Strong in the economy.
Strong in security.
Yoo Seung-min is strong against the Democratic Party.
Next year's presidential election will be decided by a 1-2% difference.
A candidate who fails to win the hearts of the moderate voters, metropolitan area, and youth will surely lose the election.
Do you want to see the Democratic Party regime ruin this country for another five years?
If you really want regime change, Yoo Seung-min, who is strong in the final election and whom the Democratic Party fears the most, is the answer.
Why do I do politics?
I have never forgotten the essence of politics even for a moment.
While doing politics, I have sometimes walked thorny paths and endured lonely hardships.
But no matter what difficulties I faced, if it was the right path for the country and the people, I stood up boldly against the living power.
Even if no one recognized me, I have silently worried about and loved Korea.
I have trained myself to become a leader who fulfills the mission of the era.
Anyone can talk.
But who can do it is what matters.
Yoo Seung-min will set Korea straight again.
I will be your proud, successful president.
Won't you join Yoo Seung-min on the bold path of hope?
