The U.S. Women's Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour announced on the 25th (Korean time) that "the Buick LPGA Shanghai, which was scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China, from October 14, has been canceled." This is a measure due to travel restrictions caused by COVID-19. It is the second consecutive year of cancellation following last year. The tournaments following the China event, the BMW Ladies Championship (Korea) and the Toto Japan Classic (Japan), are expected to be held as planned. The BMW Ladies Championship will open on October 21 in Busan.

AP reported, citing two anonymous sources, that "the World Golf Championships (WGC) series HSBC Champions, scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China, on October 28, has been canceled."
