Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation Revamps Scholarship Program: "Nurturing 1,100 Future Talents Over 5 Years"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation announced on the 25th that it will reorganize its existing scholarship program into the 'Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Scholarship' and nurture 1,100 future talents over the next five years.
Through the 'Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Scholarship,' the foundation plans to support underprivileged groups and cultural arts sponsorship, while fostering next-generation leaders who will lead social change and innovation and drive a sustainable future.
To this end, the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation explained that it will support 1,100 talents over the next five years in five sectors: ▲Global ▲Future Industries ▲International Cooperation ▲Social Innovation ▲Culture and Arts. Additionally, it plans to continuously expand the scholarship recipients and fields by developing various programs reflecting the changing times and talent standards.
In the global sector, selected master's and doctoral students from eight ASEAN countries including Indonesia and Vietnam will be supported to study at major domestic graduate schools. In the future industries sector, scholarships will be provided to domestic university (graduate) students in future industry fields such as intelligent information technology, bio-health, and new energy industries. In the international cooperation sector, university (graduate) students aspiring to enter international organizations will be offered related educational opportunities to grow as international leaders, along with scholarships for overseas advancement.
In the social innovation sector, the foundation will collaborate with major Hyundai Motor Group affiliates to foster social entrepreneurs and social ventures. In the culture and arts field, scholarships and systematic education will be provided to middle and high school students and university students majoring in classical music, Korean traditional music (gugak), and dance to nurture next-generation future cultural leaders active on the global stage.
Furthermore, scholarship recipients who achieve outstanding results on the global stage will receive a separate scholarship called the 'Chung Mong-Koo Scholarship Growth Support Package.' This package primarily supports scholarships for up to five years for recipients who enter top 100 overseas universities (graduate schools). In particular, additional scholarships will be provided to recipients with excellent international achievements such as publishing papers in internationally renowned academic journals and winning international competitions.
