[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] POSCO is recruiting trainees for the ‘21 2nd Gwangyang Steelworks Partner Employment Support Program. Applications have been open since the 16th and will close on September 9th, the company announced on the 23rd.
The Partner Employment Support Program is designed to provide selected young job seekers with the basic knowledge and practical skills necessary as employees, and to connect them with small and medium-sized enterprises and partner companies in need of manpower.
The program is recruiting 20 people, open to anyone aged 34 or younger with at least a high school diploma. Preference will be given to those holding technical certificates in △mechanical △electrical △crane fields.
The selected trainees will receive job training including △maintenance practice △overhead crane operation △electric welding, along with general education and character training necessary as employees, at the Gwangyang Technical Training Center near Gwangyang Steelworks from September 23rd to November 30th for 45 days. The schedule may change depending on the COVID-19 situation.
POSCO will cover all costs required for the training. To encourage active participation, POSCO will support accommodation and meal expenses and provide a monthly training allowance of 800,000 KRW. After completing the training course, interview opportunities will be offered with POSCO partner companies and small and medium-sized enterprises for employment linkage.

Meanwhile, POSCO operates partner employment support programs in Gwangyang and Pohang to help partner companies and SMEs secure excellent talent and actively support youth employment. In Gwangyang, 164 people have successfully found employment at Gwangyang Steelworks partner companies and SMEs through this program since 2017.
