Hyundai Mobis Participates in Germany IAA Mobility for the First Time... Full-Scale Entry into European Market
Showcasing Future Technologies Including Electrification... Full-Scale Order Activities Begin
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Mobis will participate for the first time in a motor show held in Europe. The company plans to showcase a large number of future technologies, including eco-friendly mobility innovations, while accelerating its efforts to penetrate the local European market.
Hyundai Mobis announced on the 23rd that it will participate in the 'IAA Mobility 2021,' held in Munich, Germany, for six days starting next month on the 7th. At this motor show, Hyundai Mobis plans to unveil more than 30 future technologies, including electrification, autonomous driving, and infotainment.
Known as one of the world's four major motor shows and also referred to as the 'Frankfurt Motor Show,' IAA Mobility is the largest automotive exhibition in Europe. For the past 70 years, it was held every odd year in Frankfurt but has moved to Munich starting this year. Notably, the official name was changed to include 'Mobility' to evolve into a comprehensive future mobility competition platform.
This is Hyundai Mobis's first time participating in an automotive exhibition held in Europe. The biggest issue in the European automotive market recently is eco-friendly management in response to climate change, and automakers are requiring global parts suppliers to adopt low-carbon energy policies. The company explained that without a mid- to long-term eco-friendly mobility strategy, opportunities to win orders could decrease, as suppliers may be excluded from bidding processes.
At IAA Mobility, Hyundai Mobis plans to emphasize its future technology competitiveness in electrification and autonomous driving, along with its 'RE100' strategy to convert 100% of the electricity used by the company to renewable energy. Hyundai Mobis previously declared that it would convert all electricity used at its domestic and overseas business sites to 100% renewable energy by 2040, becoming the first Korean automotive parts company to do so.
To this end, Hyundai Mobis has prepared an exhibition hall of 358㎡ in Hall 82 at Messe Munich, where IAA Mobility 2021 is held. In the 'Public Zone' for general visitors, Hyundai Mobis's electrification parts applied to Hyundai Motor's Ioniq 5 can be viewed in 3D and on large screens, and the electric vehicle-based fully autonomous concept car 'M.Vision X' will also be showcased.
In the 'Private Zone,' more than 30 core future car components from six representative product groups?autonomous driving, infotainment, electrification, chassis, lamps, and safety parts?will be exhibited. Notable examples include the panoramic sunroof airbag, augmented reality (AR) head-up display, battery system, and high-performance radar.
Hyundai Mobis plans to launch aggressive promotions and marketing in the European market, using IAA Mobility 2021 as a turning point. On the 6th of next month, a press day will be held to invite key industry stakeholders and local media to the site, introduce mid- to long-term growth strategies and European market sales strategies, and hold order meetings with various major automakers and other key stakeholders.
