Following Pfizer and J&J, Moderna Also Mandates Employee Vaccination
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Moderna has mandated COVID-19 vaccinations for its employees in the United States starting this October.
According to foreign media on the 21st (local time), Moderna announced the day before that "from October 1st, employees working in U.S. offices must be vaccinated."
However, exceptions will be made for those who refuse vaccination due to health reasons or religious beliefs.
Moderna is the last among the three COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers authorized for emergency use in the U.S. to mandate employee vaccinations.
Previously, Johnson & Johnson (J&J), the parent company of Janssen, required its U.S. employees and contractors to complete vaccination by October 4th. Pfizer has mandated either vaccination or weekly COVID-19 testing for its U.S. employees.
Major U.S. corporations are increasingly adopting vaccine mandates. Microsoft (MS) plans to require proof of vaccination from employees, contractors, and visitors entering company facilities in the U.S. starting next month.
All employees entering Gap's offices in New York, the San Francisco Bay Area in California, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, must submit proof of vaccination starting September 7th.
