Angelina Jolie Appeals on Instagram to "Help Afghanistan"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Angelina Jolie, a Hollywood star and special envoy for the UN Refugee Agency, opened an Instagram account and appealed for attention to the suffering in Afghanistan, which has been occupied by the Islamic militant group Taliban.
According to CNN, Jolie posted a letter she received from a teenage girl in Afghanistan on the 20th (local time) after joining Instagram.
The girl, whose name and residence were not disclosed, expressed fear of the Taliban in the letter, writing, "We have been imprisoned again." She also wrote, "Before the Taliban came, we all had rights and could freely advocate for them," and "But when they came, I thought all our dreams disappeared."

Jolie wrote, "Two weeks before the 9/11 attacks, I visited the Afghan border and met Afghan refugees who had fled from the Taliban," adding, "It is horrifying to watch Afghans once again forced to leave their country gripped by fear and uncertainty after 20 years." She also revealed her plan to "share the stories of people fighting for basic human rights with the world."
