POSCO and Gwangyang City Successfully Complete 'Employment Consulting'
Providing Effective Employment Skills Improvement Opportunities through One-on-One Customized Mentoring
Gwangyang Steelworks Employees Serve as Mentors to Share More Practical and Vivid Job-Seeking Know-How
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks announced on the 20th that it successfully concluded the youth employment support program "Employment Consulting with POSCO-Gwangyang City," which began on the 18th, with great response.
"Employment Consulting with POSCO-Gwangyang City" is a Gwangyang Steelworks employment support program designed to encourage local youth facing difficulties in employment amid the COVID-19-affected job market and to promote coexistence with the local community.
Last month, Gwangyang Steelworks recruited participants for the "Employment Consulting" program aimed at strengthening employment capabilities, including career counseling, resume editing, and interview coaching, selecting a total of 30 people and providing them with one-on-one customized mentoring.
To prevent group infections due to the spread of COVID-19, the "Employment Consulting" was held over two days, the 18th and 19th, with participants divided in half and booths spaced sufficiently apart. Participants paid special attention to personal hygiene, including temperature checks, mask-wearing, and hand sanitizing.
Gwangyang Steelworks provided one-on-one employment consulting for a total of 40 minutes, divided into 20 minutes each for job-related and employment sessions, following a typical recruitment process.
Additionally, a separate time was arranged at the end of the schedule to help resolve employment-related questions from Gwangyang City youth.
Fifteen employees from Gwangyang Steelworks were invited as mentors to share more practical and vivid employment know-how.
Engineer production staff at Gwangyang Steelworks sincerely answered questions about their own experiences with employment methods, job duties, and company life, while HR department staff shared tips necessary for employment, such as recruitment trends, resume writing, and interviews.
Kim (28), a job seeker from Gwangyang City who participated in the "Employment Consulting with POSCO-Gwangyang City," said, "Since the spread of COVID-19, employment has become much more difficult, causing a lot of mental stress, but through this opportunity, I was able to receive many realistic pieces of advice about employment." He added, "I will work hard to supplement my shortcomings through today's mentoring and succeed in getting a job."
