Cho Won-tae "A380 and Other Large Aircraft to Cease Operation Within 10 Years"... Enhancing Fleet Efficiency
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Korean Air plans to discontinue the operation of large passenger aircraft models A380-800 and B747-8i within 10 years.
On the 20th, Cho Won-tae, Chairman of Korean Air, stated in an interview with the global aviation magazine 'FlightGlobal' that "the A380 will be phased out from Korean Air within 5 years, followed by the B747-8i within 10 years."
Korean Air currently operates 10 units each of the A380-800 (407 seats) and the B747-8i (368 seats).
Known as the "7-star hotel in the sky," the A380-800 was introduced in 2011, and the B747-8i, another representative large passenger aircraft, was introduced in 2015.

Korean Air explained that this is "part of an effort to improve fleet efficiency by transitioning from large aircraft with many seats to smaller medium-to-large aircraft."
