LG Electronics and Hyundai Elevator Join Forces for Robot Integration and Smart Building Solutions Business
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] LG Electronics is accelerating its robot integration and smart building solution business by partnering with Hyundai Elevator.
On the 20th, LG Electronics and Hyundai Elevator held a memorandum of understanding (MOU) ceremony at LG Science Park located in Magok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Attendees included Kwon Soon-hwang, President of the BS Business Division at LG Electronics, and Song Seung-bong, CEO of Hyundai Elevator.
This agreement aims to collaborate across various business fields such as robots, signage, and smart home/building solutions. The two companies plan to progressively carry out ▲discovering joint business opportunities through the advancement of robot logistics services ▲collaborating on building premium elevators applying OLED signage ▲promoting differentiated services within smart homes and buildings.
In the robot sector, through robot-elevator integration, autonomous robots will independently use elevators to deliver packages or food to customers’ desired locations, enhancing robot delivery services. Based on this, they will explore various business opportunities in apartment complexes, office buildings, hospitals, and more. Additionally, by applying advanced signage technologies such as OLED displays inside elevators, user convenience will be maximized and the premium image strengthened.
CEO Song said, "The convergence of the elevator open API (Application Programming Interface) and contactless technology developed by our company with LG Electronics’ autonomous robot and signage technologies in smart building solutions will create synergy across various sectors such as apartments, hotels, and buildings," adding, "The two companies will jointly open a new market called 'vertical e-mobility' going forward."
