Through this request, the province actively expressed the need to form an "intergovernmental TF" that includes related government ministries such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the Ministry of Justice, as well as stakeholders such as workers, farm owners (employers), and experts.
Additionally, it proposed that the intergovernmental TF should gather diverse opinions within the scope of applicable laws and regulations, and considering the realities of rural areas, develop effective housing environment improvement measures that allow both employers and workers to coexist harmoniously.
Previously, the province conducted a policy study titled "Development of a Gyeonggi Province-type Housing Model for Foreign Workers," through which it discovered and proposed three new housing model types: "hub-type," "proximity to workplace-type," and "utilization of vacant buildings-type."
Furthermore, the province is also reviewing plans to strengthen on-site counseling functions related to the lives and human rights of foreign workers by utilizing professional counselors, and to newly implement "labor law education" for foreign workers and employers.
