KOSPI Opens Slightly Lower... Mixed Trends in Early Trading
KOSPI Maintains Levels at 3140 and KOSDAQ at 1010
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ started slightly lower and are showing mixed trends in the early trading session.
On the 19th, the KOSPI opened at 3,140.01, down 0.60% (18.92 points) from the previous day. As of 9:29 AM, it recorded 3,148.15.
Foreigners and institutions sold net amounts of 33.7 billion KRW and 261.9 billion KRW respectively, while individuals bought a net amount of 299.8 billion KRW.
Most sectors are in decline. The transportation and warehousing sector had the largest drop at -2.24%. This was followed by construction (-1.65%), transportation equipment (-1.43%), and machinery (-1.55%). Only banking (3.29%) and medical precision (1.27%) sectors rose.
Among the top 10 companies by market capitalization, most were also down. Samsung SDI had the largest decline at -1.13%, followed by Hyundai Motor (-0.94%), Kakao (-0.69%), Samsung Biologics (-0.50%), and NAVER (-0.35%). Kakao Bank (4.02%), SK Hynix (0.48%), Samsung Electronics (0.27%), and Celltrion (0.18%) rose.
The KOSDAQ also opened lower at 1,013.93, down 0.70% (7.15 points) from the previous day. At the same time, it showed 1,018.40.
In the KOSDAQ market, foreigners and institutions sold net amounts of 27.6 billion KRW and 52.8 billion KRW respectively. Individuals bought a net amount of 86.5 billion KRW.
Again, most sectors were down. Broadcasting services (-2.42%), telecommunications and broadcasting services (-2.04%), transportation equipment and parts (-1.76%), and machinery and equipment (-1.26%) were among the declines. Financials (1.15%), information devices (1.07%), and food and tobacco (0.62%) sectors rose.

Among the top 10 companies by market capitalization, many stocks rose. Pearl Abyss had the largest increase at 3.03%, followed by Seegene (2.72%), EcoPro BM (2.06%), Kakao Games (1.41%), and L&F (0.25%). HLB (-3.10%), CJ ENM (-2.66%), SK Materials (-2.06%), Celltrion Healthcare (-0.60%), and Celltrion Pharm (-0.18%) declined.
