Jeong Se-gyun Preliminary Candidate Visiting the Korea Federation of SMEs, Announces 10 Major Pledges for Small and Medium Ventures
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] On the 18th, the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (KSMB) held a dialogue between former Prime Minister and Democratic Party presidential primary candidate Jeong Se-gyun and small and medium-sized business owners at the KSMB headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.
From the Democratic Party, candidates including Jeong Se-gyun, as well as lawmakers Lee Won-wook, Kim Gyo-heung, Kim Seong-ju, and Kim Kyung-man attended. From the SME sector, KSMB Chairman Kim Ki-moon, Lee Sang-hoon, Chairman of the Korea Bookbinding Industry Cooperative, Lee Han-wook, Chairman of the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam New Technology Business Cooperative, and Han Byung-jun, Chairman of the Korea Information Industry Cooperative, were present.
During the meeting, discussions were held on field opinions such as ▲supplementing the 52-hour workweek system ▲improving the business succession system ▲creating an environment for fair pricing in SME supply contracts ▲restructuring the quarantine system to minimize damage to industries affected by COVID-19.
Candidate Jeong announced the "Top 10 pledges for the SME and venture business sector." The pledges were explained by Lawmaker Kim Kyung-man, who is in charge of the Strong Small Business Promotion Headquarters, followed by a Q&A session with attending SME representatives.
The top 10 pledges for the SME and venture business sector include ▲securing future growth engines ▲demand-driven research and development (R&D) ▲creating a fair trade environment ▲strengthening cooperation between large and small-medium enterprises in the materials, parts, and equipment industry.

Chairman Kim Ki-moon stated, "SMEs are suffering from a triple crisis including soaring raw material prices, logistics cost increases due to transportation disruptions, and labor shortages," adding, "I hope efforts will be made to create an environment where SMEs can increase investment and jobs and work energetically through continuous innovation."
