Recruitment of SME Software Training Companies... '15 Million Won Support for 1 Year'
Recruitment of Participating Companies for 'SW Customized On-site Training' from the 19th
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The government announced on the 19th that it will recruit small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate in the Software Workforce Training On-the-Job Training (S-OJT), which provides up to 15 million KRW in training expenses for up to one year.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea are expanding support for S-OJT targeting software personnel working at SMEs. S-OJT is a system where the SME Training Support Center analyzes company job roles, provides training consultations, develops customized training programs for companies, and supports actual training.
From today until October 15, companies can apply to participate in S-OJT on an ongoing basis, with plans to support 250 companies by the end of this year. Not only venture and software companies but also companies in general industries can participate.
On June 9, the government established the "Private Sector Cooperation-Based Software Talent Development Plan" to nurture 410,000 software talents over the next five years and secured an additional supplementary budget of 5.7 billion KRW. This funding will be used to expand support for S-OJT.
S-OJT training expenses will be supported up to 15 million KRW per company for up to one year. Training is conducted in two categories: "Software Developer Job Course" and "General Software Utilization Job Course." Project-based training programs related to software development, construction, and utilization will be developed for each company.
Song Hongseok, Director of the Vocational Competency Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, said, "Through this S-OJT, employees are expected to enhance their capabilities, and companies will be able to timely nurture the talent they need." He added, "We will continue to develop vocational training models such as customized S-OJT for SMEs."
