Kang Min-jin Criticizes Chu Mi-ae's Comparison of Cho Kuk to An Jung-geun as "An Outrageous Idea"
"Culprits Damaging the Spirit of Candlelight, Moon Government and Democratic Party"
"Democratic Party Defending Illegal Acts of Former Minister Cho and Spouse... 'Insult to Candlelight'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] On the 16th, Kang Minjin, leader of the Youth Justice Party, sharply criticized former Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae, who sparked controversy by making remarks likening former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk to the patriot Ahn Jung-geun, calling it a "breathtaking idea."
Leader Kang said in a post on her Facebook that day, "Democratic Party presidential candidate Chu Mi-ae compared former Minister Cho to 'Ahn Jung-geun,' and likened the prosecution investigation and the judiciary related to Cho and his wife to 'Japanese judges.'"
She criticized former Minister Chu, saying, "It seems she is living in a completely different world, denying everything from the ongoing prosecution investigation, media coverage, to the court's decisions in reality."
She continued, "Candidate Chu also said, 'If you say now to bury Cho Kuk, then why did you come out to the candlelight square?' and called to raise the candlelight again. Did the people raise candles to protect Cho Kuk?" She raised her voice, saying, "I sincerely feel anger at such an act that insults the spirit of the candlelight."
Additionally, Leader Kang said, "The biggest culprit who damaged the spirit of the candlelight is none other than the Moon Jae-in government and the Democratic Party," adding, "The candlelight we held was to impeach power that reigns above the law. We held the candlelight to create a just Republic of Korea where law and common sense prevail and no one is above another."
She said, "After the impeachment of Park Geun-hye, the Democratic Party falsely claimed the candlelight. If they had inherited the political symbol of the candlelight, they should have run the country with the spirit of the candlelight, but instead, they continued acts that directly betrayed the candlelight," and pointed out, "The Democratic Party’s behavior of defending the unfair and illegal acts of former Minister Cho and his wife, even denying the revealed facts, is an 'insult to the candlelight.'"
Furthermore, Leader Kang stated, "The Moon Jae-in government's decision to release conglomerate Lee Jae-yong, who was involved in the state affairs manipulation scandal, marked the pinnacle of betrayal of the candlelight," and said, "The people will raise the candlelight again. I believe so. And that candlelight will judge not only the People Power Party but also the Democratic Party."
In conclusion, she emphasized, "After the release of Lee Jae-yong, the Moon Jae-in government is no longer a candlelight government," and said, "Democratic Party figures should no longer falsely claim or use the 'candlelight.' That is the last respect the government and ruling party can show to the 'candlelight.'"

Regarding the recent appellate court sentencing of Cho Kuk’s wife, Professor Jeong Gyeong-sim of Dongyang University, to four years in prison, she said, "It was done with the intention and calculation of forces resisting reform," and added, "All of these are tasks that must be reformed."
She raised her voice, saying, "Ahn Jung-geun shot Ito Hirobumi and was tried by Japanese judges, became a terrorist, and was executed, but since it ended like that, it is the same as saying we should accept and cooperate with Japanese rule," and added, "If now you say to bury Cho Kuk, then why did you engage in politics and why did you come out to the candlelight square?"
