President Moon comforts Haiti affected by 'Gangjin'... "Korea also joins support" (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in sent a message of condolence via social networking services (SNS) following a condolence telegram to Haiti, which suffered damage from a strong earthquake.
On the afternoon of the 16th, President Moon stated through SNS, "I am deeply saddened by the many casualties and losses caused by the earthquake that occurred in Haiti on August 14," and "On behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Korea, I extend my deepest condolences to the Prime Minister and the people of Haiti."
President Moon added, "I sincerely hope that the people of Haiti, united under the leadership of the Prime Minister, will quickly overcome this situation, and that the earthquake victims, their families, and all the people of Haiti will recover from their grief and pain as soon as possible," and expressed the government's intention to support by saying, "The government of the Republic of Korea will participate in the international community's efforts to provide emergency relief to Haiti."
Earlier, President Moon sent a condolence telegram to Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry regarding the earthquake damage. In the telegram, President Moon expressed his sorrow for the many Haitian people affected by the earthquake and said, "I hope the people of Haiti unite to ensure a swift recovery and restoration."
