Daejeon City Opens Third Residential Treatment Center with Approximately 550 Beds
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 14th that it will establish and operate the '3rd Residential Treatment Center' at the Seo-gu Corporate Research Institute starting next week.
The 3rd Residential Treatment Center will operate with a maximum of 555 beds. Medical staff, city employees, military personnel, police, and firefighters totaling 54 people will be divided into five teams and assigned here.
Additionally, 13 medical professionals, including doctors and nurses from Catholic University Daejeon St. Mary's Hospital, will be stationed on-site to care for patients.
With the operation of the 3rd Residential Treatment Center, Daejeon will secure a total of 829 beds, which is expected to somewhat alleviate the shortage of beds caused by the rapid increase in COVID-19 confirmed cases.
For stable bed management, the city plans to prioritize admitting asymptomatic and mild patients to each residential treatment center and seek ways to secure additional beds in dedicated hospitals if the number of patients classified as severe or critical increases.
Earlier, the city opened the 2nd Residential Treatment Center with 106 beds on the 26th of last month. However, with the current utilization rate reaching 83% to 84%, securing additional beds became an urgent matter.
