On the 12th, Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, wrote a message of gratitude to the patriotic martyrs in front of the Portrait Exhibition Hall at Manguri Park.
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Ryoo Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, is receiving applause for installing message boards to honor the patriotic activists resting in Manguri Park on the occasion of the 76th Liberation Day.
On the 12th, Mayor Ryoo installed message boards at Manguri Park and Jungnang-gu Office.
Originally, the district planned to hold a commemorative event with independence activists in the area on Liberation Day, but due to the Level 4 social distancing measures, they prepared these message boards instead.
On that day, Mayor Ryoo was the first to write on the message board, composing the phrase: "We honor the noble spirit of patriotic activists and martyrs who love the country and the nation. From the patriotic Manguri Park."
The message boards are installed in two locations: in front of the portrait exhibition hall inside Manguri Park and at Jungnang-gu Citizen Plaza at Jungnang-gu Office. Any citizen can participate in writing messages, and this will continue until the 20th.
Mayor Ryoo Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “I hope everyone participates in writing messages to reflect on the noble spirit of independence activism of the patriotic activists,” and added, “We will continue to properly manage Manguri Park, where many figures who led modern and contemporary history, including independence activists, rest.”

Manguri Park is the resting place of patriotic activists such as Han Yong-un, who led the March 1st Movement, as well as Oh Se-chang, Moon Il-pyeong, Bang Jeong-hwan, Jo Bong-am, and others. Yu Gwan-sun, a heroic figure, is also laid to rest here. Last September, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Yu Gwan-sun, the district renovated her joint burial site in Manguri Park and held a memorial event.
