Jung Se-kyun Criticizes “Yoon Seok-yeol, Difficult to Become President or Even a Candidate”
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Jeong Se-gyun, a presidential candidate from the ruling party, criticized former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl on the 10th, saying, "I think it will be difficult for him not only to become president but even to become a candidate."
Jeong made this remark during a press conference held at the Daejeon Lifelong Education Promotion Institute on the morning of the same day, pointing out, "It’s not just one case, but about five problematic statements in a short period." He was referring to controversial remarks made by former Yoon, including those about the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
He emphasized, "Recently, whether we call them slips of the tongue or attribute them to his way of thinking, about five statements have become problematic," adding, "Many citizens seem to classify some of them as outrageous remarks."
He continued, "Former Yoon first betrayed the appointing authority," and criticized, "He was told to carry out prosecutorial reform, but instead, he did politics."
Jeong said, "No former Prosecutor General has ever directly transitioned into politics, but he did so, betraying the prosecution that gave birth to and nurtured him," and added, "If that’s the case, shouldn’t he demonstrate his capabilities properly?"
He then stated, "My assessment is that this person will find it difficult not only to become president but even to become a candidate," and added, "However, since he is not from our party but from another party, I don’t think I need to pay much attention."
