Oh Gyu-seok, Mayor of Busan's Gijang County, welcomed the decision to grant parole to Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong.
Mayor Oh had been working tirelessly to attract large corporations to the advanced industrial complex being promoted in Gijang County.
Since February, he sent five appeal letters in the form of letters to President Moon Jae-in urging the pardon of Vice Chairman Lee, eagerly anticipating the return of the corporate leader to the field.

Gijang County is creating the "Southeast Radiation Medical and Science Industrial Complex," an industrial cluster for radiation technology (RT) leading the non-nuclear power sector, on a 1,478,772㎡ (450,000 pyeong) site with a county budget investment of 319.7 billion KRW.
Major national projects such as the export-oriented new research reactor development project, heavy ion accelerator, radioactive isotope fusion research infrastructure, and power semiconductor industry cluster development project are being promoted.
Gijang County dreams of becoming a mecca of the future industrial revolution that creates Korea's future food industry, and continues to pursue the attraction of large and small enterprises to Gijang County, sending "love calls" to large corporations including Samsung Electronics.
