The camp, which took place over five days starting from the 27th, involved Gurye-gun students and was conducted by Professor Cho Young-joo and Professor Lee Kwang-ok from the SW-Centered University Project Group, along with Kim Jun-hyun, a student instructor from the Department of Computer Engineering.
In this course, 14 students from Gurye Buk Elementary School, Gurye Yongbang Elementary School, and Gurye Middle School experienced a total of 21 hours of learning covering AI (Artificial Intelligence) and SW (Software) understanding and application, robot coding, Code Master, understanding AI, and machine learning.
One student who participated in the camp said, “I always had many questions about AI·SW, but even if I wanted to try on my own, I couldn’t. Using this summer vacation, I was able to enjoy learning about AI robots, VR, AR, and robot coding, which I had only heard about before, while playing, so the class time passed quickly.”
Professor Cho Young-joo said, “I felt proud that we could use the expert resources, teaching tools, experience, and content of the Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group to help satisfy some of the curiosity of elementary and middle school students in Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do. I was happy to provide a program that allowed children who are curious about the 4th Industrial Revolution and students who want to become AI robot researchers to think about various ideas, and the students’ feedback that it was fun really encouraged me.”
Meanwhile, the second session, which will run until October 8, will involve 15 students from Gurye Buk Middle School learning AI·SW understanding and application, robot coding using Ozobot, Turtle Robot, Jimu Robot, Code Master, AI, and machine learning through various hands-on topics in AI·SW coding education.
