Pohang City Establishes 'Rapid Collection' System for Summer Resort Household Waste
Operation of Situation and Mobile Cleaning Teams at Major Summer Resorts Until the 20th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pohang City announced on the 9th that it is conducting intensive publicity and crackdowns on household waste disposal at vacation spots and other locations as the summer vacation season comes to an end.
The city has organized a collection, transportation, and disposal system for the large amount of household waste temporarily generated at vacation spots where many people gather. Through this, timely collection and eradication of illegal dumping are being enforced to prevent environmental pollution and the spread of COVID-19, creating a pleasant and healthy vacation environment.
First, until the 20th, a situation team and mobile cleaning team are operating to establish a rapid collection and transportation system at major vacation spots to promptly handle household waste so that it does not accumulate. In each eup, myeon, and dong, additional mobile household waste separation bins and recycling bins have been placed at eight locations including entrances to major tourist vacation spots such as Naeyeonsan and Sangok Valley, beaches, and crowded areas.
In particular, the city and each eup, myeon, and dong have permanently organized and are operating a 'Household Waste Illegal Dumping Crackdown Team' considering the characteristics of vacation spots such as parks, beaches, mountains, and valleys during this vacation season, supporting timely collection by installing mobile illegal monitoring cameras, deploying street environment managers, and positioning cleaning vehicles.
Illegal dumping of household waste generated during vacation trips will result in a fine of 200,000 KRW, and fines of up to 1,000,000 KRW may be imposed depending on the form of illegal incineration, landfill, or dumping.
