'USA Gymnastics Queen' Simone Biles Withdraws from Vault Event... "Considering Participation in Balance Beam"
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] The "Gymnastics Queen" Simone Biles (24, USA), whose mental state completely collapsed under pressure, will not compete in the floor exercise either.
On the 1st, Reuters and AP News, citing the announcement from USA Gymnastics, reported that Biles also withdrew from the women's floor exercise final at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Biles is still considering whether to participate in the final of the balance beam, the last remaining event.
Biles, who was aiming for six gold medals in this competition, did not participate in three team events after scoring poorly on vault in the women's team final.
Due to Biles' sudden mid-competition withdrawal, the gold medal went to the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
Afterward, Biles withdrew from three of the five individual event finals she had qualified for, including the all-around, vault, and uneven bars, and decided not to compete in the floor exercise on that day.
It is uncertain whether she will be able to compete on the balance beam, effectively having given up on all events.
