View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] GS25 announced on the 1st that it will hold a "Living Cost Stabilization Event" throughout August, offering food, daily necessities, and more at the lowest prices nationwide.
GS25 stated that this event was specially planned to stabilize the continuously rising living costs and to support budget-conscious shopping for convenience store customers whose visits have increased due to strengthened social distancing measures.
From the 1st for one month, GS25 will present 100 living cost stabilization products mainly consisting of daily necessities such as ▲agricultural, livestock, and marine products ▲ice cream ▲ready-to-eat foods ▲ramen ▲bread ▲beverages ▲toilet paper ▲detergents through promotions like 1+1, 2+1, and super special prices.
All 100 items are best-selling products with high consumer preference. Key items include 2 peaches, 200g Shine Muscat grapes, one-meal steak, 210g Hetbahn (instant cooked rice), 25 slices of bread, Gangcheolbudae Big Farm, Buldak Bokkeum Myun (spicy chicken stir-fried noodles), World Cone ice cream, Coca-Cola Zero cans, Pigeon Acts 1.4ℓ, and Kleenex roll tissue (12 packs).
Starting from the 9th, GS25 will exclusively hold a 60% discount event on all lunchboxes for 7 days. This is the highest discount rate ever applied in convenience store history. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of NH Nonghyup, GS25 and NH Nonghyup Card have jointly planned this event to provide affordable meals to the public through GS25 lunchboxes made with Nonghyup rice, while promoting the consumption of domestically produced rice.
During the event period, customers purchasing lunchboxes can first present the discount QR code within GS25’s exclusive application "The Pop" and enjoy a basic 60% discount when paying with the Nonghyup NH Card (Chaeum).
With the discount applied, the most expensive GS25 lunchbox, "Grilled Freshwater Eel Rice Bowl," can be purchased for 3,960 KRW (regular price 9,900 KRW), and the cheapest "Hambak & Chicken Lunchbox" for 1,520 KRW (regular price 3,800 KRW). Additionally, up to a 10% discount is applied when using membership benefits from telecom companies (KT, LGU+). There is no limit on the number of purchases, but a maximum of 3 lunchboxes can be purchased per transaction.
GS25 expects this unprecedentedly large discount lunchbox event to receive positive responses, especially from office workers replacing lunch with convenience store meals due to the COVID-19 impact and customers tired of 돌밥돌밥 (a newly coined term meaning "having to cook rice again as soon as you turn around").
Additionally, GS25 will offer ▲a 1+1 event on all Breadic refrigerated bread products when paying with KB Kookmin Card (excluding some cards) ▲a 1+1 event on Cafe25 large iced Americano when paying with BC Card (excluding some cards) ▲a 2,000 KRW discount when purchasing 8 cans of beer, along with summer heat relief promotions such as ▲1+1 on Yours Whole Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) ▲half-price discount on Thornsall Chicken ▲1+1 on ice cream products. From the 16th, a "Fresh Week" event will be held selling about 30 types of fresh vegetables and fruits at the lowest prices nationwide.
Sung Chan-gan, Head of GS25 MD Division (Executive Director), said, "To support the public facing difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and rising prices, GS25, as a core platform for nearby shopping, is launching various events focused on food and daily necessities with the highest discount rates ever." He added, "We will focus on creating an environment where customers can shop economically and conveniently."
