Han Mijin (Chungbuk Provincial Office, world ranking 20th), the heaviest weight class female judoka, continued her dream of winning an Olympic medal. On the 30th, at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, she defeated Tessie Savelkauls of the Netherlands (world ranking 17th) by waza-ari in the round of 32 of the women's over 78kg judo event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She scored a waza-ari with a thigh throw just 1 minute and 20 seconds after the start of the match. Although she received a shido for passive attack afterward, she maintained her lead until the end and advanced to the round of 16.
