Jill Biden Visits Hospital for Surgery... Injured During Hawaii Visit
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Jill Biden, wife of U.S. President Joe Biden, injured her foot and is receiving treatment at a hospital.
On the 29th (local time), the Office of the First Lady released a statement saying, "Last week, before attending two official events in Hawaii, Mrs. Biden stepped on something at the beach that became lodged in her left foot."
The Office of the First Lady added, "Mrs. Biden is scheduled to undergo surgery today at Walter Reed Military Hospital to have it removed, and the President will accompany her."
The Office did not specify what was lodged in Mrs. Biden's foot or the details of the surgery.
Mrs. Biden had stopped in Hawaii on her way back after attending the Tokyo Olympics as the head of the U.S. delegation.
She visited a vaccination center to encourage vaccinations, met with military families for a barbecue, and returned to the White House on the 26th. Supporting military families has long been an area of interest for Mrs. Biden.
