[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Dong-guk] Gunwi-gun, Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 30th that it will conduct 1:1 customized on-site consulting education for tomato cooperative farmers operated by the Gunwi-gun Cooperative Joint Business Corporation in 10 sessions until the end of November.
The education, which began on the 28th at the second-floor conference room of the Gunwi-gun Cooperative Joint Business Corporation, started with an opening ceremony followed by theoretical education on cultivation techniques.
The Gunwi-gun Cooperative Joint Business Corporation, launched in the second half of last year, is focusing on establishing a stable distribution base by standardizing and commercializing tomatoes for farmers practicing joint selection and joint shipment. This aims to increase the purchase price for farmers. Currently, 20 farms participate in the Gunwi-gun tomato cooperative, producing 1,300 tons in the first half of this year, mainly distributed nationwide.
Hong Seong-pyo, chairman of the tomato cooperative, stated, "Through this education, members have participated with the desire to produce excellent tomatoes unique to Gunwi-gun."
