Imsil-gun Accelerates 'Imsilcheon Landscape Improvement Project' with 4.2 Billion Won Investment

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] The riverside path along Imsilcheon, the representative stream of Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is gaining attention as a healing spot for residents.

According to the county on the 29th, the Imsilcheon landscape improvement project was selected in 2019 as a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport regional demand-tailored support contest project, with an investment of 4.2 billion KRW, and the finishing construction is currently underway.

Through this project, the county installed an expanded pedestrian bridge (L=450m), followed by the creation of nighttime landscape lighting including 38 lanterns, 175 deck mood lights, 82 walking security lights, and 26 gobo lights.

Imsilcheon, located in the center of Imsil-eup, shines brightly even on dark nights thanks to the nighttime landscape lighting.

The county plans to complete the project by installing fences and screening walls to protect the privacy of low-lying houses adjacent to the riverside through the production of a storyboard themed on cheese and herons.

In particular, to provide a four-season blooming landscape along the Imsil riverside, a walking path was created along about a 1.1 km section of the riverside embankment area from Imsilgyo to Sujeonggyo Bridge.

Surrounding the area, trees, shrubs, annual and perennial flowers have been planted in multiple layers and are being managed.

Recently, ornamental poppies have fully bloomed along the Imsilcheon riverside from Sujeonggyo to Imsilgyo, creating a splendid scene of red waves that captivates residents' attention.

Photographers from all over the country have visited to capture the spectacular poppy flower scene along Imsilcheon, which has been introduced through the media and SNS, gaining popularity.

The county expects that the Imsilcheon landscape project will greatly help revitalize the local economy across the commercial districts including restaurants and cafes around Imsilcheon.

County Governor Sim Min said, “If Jeonju citizens have the Jeonju riverside, then Imsil residents have the Imsil riverside,” adding, “Colorful and unique nighttime landscape lighting and flower paths have been created along the riverside, and residents like it very much, so I feel great fulfillment in promoting this project.”
