Apple iPad Mini 6, Featuring Mini LED Backlight
Contrast Ratio and Brightness Increased Compared to Traditional Backlight Method
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] There are expectations that Apple's upcoming release, the 'iPad Mini 6,' anticipated to be unveiled by the end of the year, will feature a mini LED backlight.
IT specialty media AppleInsider reported on the 22nd (local time), citing DigiTimes, that "Apple's supply partners will provide mini LED backlight units for a new iPad Mini product presumed to be the iPad Mini 6." The same component is also known to be applied to the new MacBook Pro models.
The new display technology, mini LED backlighting, is evaluated to be superior in terms of contrast ratio and brightness levels compared to traditional backlighting methods. It is also expected to improve the representation of black color values over existing methods. The use of mini LED displays is expanding not only to iPads but also to the new MacBook lineup.
This aligns with earlier industry speculations. Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, had predicted last year that the new iPad Mini model would be equipped with mini LED backlighting.

Meanwhile, according to the iPad Mini 6 rendering images released last month by John Prosser, the iPad Mini 6 is expected to feature thin bezels (screen borders) and a design without a home button. Bloomberg reported that the display size is likely to be between 8.5 and 9 inches. The chipset is presumed to be either the A14 or A15.
