7 years and 6 months imprisonment sought for plastic surgery clinic director in 'Late Kwon Daehee medical accident' case
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Sung-pil] The prosecution has demanded a heavy sentence for the plastic surgery clinic director involved in the medical accident that led to the death of the late Kwon Dae-hee due to excessive bleeding during surgery.
On the 22nd, at the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 8 presided over by Chief Judge Choi Chang-seok, the prosecution requested the court to sentence plastic surgery clinic director Jang to 7 years and 6 months in prison and a fine of 10 million won. Two fellow doctors who were also indicted were each requested to be sentenced to 6 years and 4 years in prison, respectively, and nursing assistant Jeon was requested to be sentenced to 2 years in prison.

Previously, Director Jang and the medical staff operating a plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, were brought to trial on charges of failing to properly monitor and take follow-up measures during the surgery of Mr. Kwon in 2016, which resulted in his death due to excessive bleeding. The court has scheduled the verdict for the 19th of next month.
