Gyeonggi-do Provides Emergency Disaster Relief Fund of 1.5 Billion Won to Jeonnam and Gyeongnam for Heavy Rain Damage
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will urgently provide 1.5 billion KRW from the Gyeonggi Disaster Relief Fund to the southern regions, including Jeollanam-do and Gyeongsangnam-do, which have suffered significant damage due to heavy rains.
Gyeonggi Province plans to deliver the fund to the National Disaster Relief Association, the organization authorized to collect donations under the 'Disaster Relief Act,' on the 30th.
The support funds will be used to assist disaster victims, including those who are deceased, missing, or injured, as well as those suffering housing damage due to flooding or destruction, and damage to main means of livelihood, in accordance with the 'Regulations on the Management and Operation of Relief Donations.'
The Disaster Relief Fund was established under the Disaster Relief Act to protect disaster victims and stabilize their living conditions.
In 2019, Gyeonggi Province established the legal basis for supporting disaster relief in other cities and provinces affected by disasters through the 'Gyeonggi Disaster Relief Fund Operation and Management Ordinance.'

Meanwhile, from July 5 to 8, record-breaking heavy rains caused damage across the country, resulting in two deaths in the Jeonnam region and approximately 1,000 disaster victims in Jeonnam and Gyeongnam regions. Damage to various facilities was also estimated at around 2,500 cases.
