Gwangju Bank Delivers 1,000 'Support Packages' to COVID-19 Medical Staff
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Bank (President Song Jong-wook) announced on the 21st that it delivered 1,000 boxes of ‘Support Packages’ worth 50 million KRW to medical staff working on the front lines to prevent the spread and treat the 4th wave of COVID-19 amid the ongoing heatwave.
The delivery ceremony was attended by Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, and Kim Jae-gyu, Chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Volunteer Center, among others.
President Song Jong-wook and the bank’s employees voluntarily participated in making the 1,000 ‘Support Packages’ themselves.
The ‘Support Packages’ for local COVID-19 medical staff consist of a total of 17 types of support items, including health foods, snacks, and instant foods, and will be delivered to designated hospitals and screening clinics through Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Earlier, on the 15th, Gwangju Bank also delivered 1,000 emergency relief boxes worth 50 million KRW to Jeonnam Province to aid residents affected by record-breaking heavy rains and flooding in various parts of Jeonnam.
President Song, who practices the management philosophy of pursuing value beyond profit, has been highly praised for leading employees to prioritize crisis resolution and providing diverse support whenever the region faces difficulties, demonstrating great capability in overcoming crises.
President Song said, “We united our hearts with employees to express gratitude to the medical staff protecting the health and safety of local residents on the front lines in overcoming COVID-19 in our region,” adding, “As the representative bank of Gwangju and Jeonnam, we will take the lead in social contribution activities and financial support to overcome regional crises with a sense of mission for coexistence with the community.”
Meanwhile, to overcome the prolonged COVID-19 crisis together with local residents, Gwangju Bank donated 30,000 masks each to Gwangju Metropolitan City and Jeonnam Province last year, along with emergency relief funds of 400 million KRW and 300 million KRW respectively, and 10 million KRW each to Mokpo, Suncheon, Yeosu, and Naju.
Additionally, the bank directly produced 3,300 emergency relief boxes and support item boxes containing health foods, daily necessities, and hygiene products for vulnerable groups and medical staff affected by COVID-19, delivering 1,500 boxes to Gwangju City and 1,800 boxes to Jeonnam Province.
