Seo Byung-su "Yoon Seok-yeol to Participate in People Power Party Primary Soon"
"The Purpose Is the Great Cause of Regime Change"
"The Decline in Approval Ratings Should Not Be Taken Lightly"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Seo Byung-soo, the preparation committee chairman for the People Power Party primary, predicted on the 21st that former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol would participate in the People Power Party primary without delay.
Chairman Seo appeared on KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strongest Current Affairs' and said, "From former Prosecutor General Yoon's perspective, he is not overly obsessed with becoming president and boldly shares the common goal of regime change," adding, "I believe he will definitely board our primary train soon." When the host asked if the primary would proceed even though former Prosecutor General Yoon has not joined the party, he said, "Lee Jun-seok, the People Power Party leader, and Kwon Young-se, the party's external cooperation chairman, have met with former Prosecutor General Yoon to discuss his joining," expressing this outlook.
Regarding former Prosecutor General Yoon's party entry, Chairman Seo said, "There is still time until the end of August," and added, "If they reach a consensus through various routes, I believe he will join." He continued, "However, even if former Prosecutor General Yoon joins late, I want to clarify that we are not in a position to delay or advance the primary schedule because of that."
On the possibility of joining the party, Chairman Seo mentioned, "Those running for president are people who have come out to work for our country and people," and said, "From their perspective, it is not desirable for the public to see them overly concerned with minor, peripheral advantages or disadvantages."
He also referred to the decline in former Prosecutor General Yoon's approval ratings and urged a decision. He said, "Whether he joins our party or not, whether he participates in the primary or not, perhaps because he has not clearly stated his position continuously, his approval ratings are stagnating or declining," adding, "While we should not be overly swayed by some polls, we must not take this trend lightly."
