Samsung 'Galaxy S22', Will 65W Fast Charging Be Applied?
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] There are expectations that Samsung Electronics' next-generation flagship smartphone series, the 'Galaxy S22,' expected to be released next year, may feature 65-watt (W) fast charging.
On the 20th (local time), IT specialist media Android Authority reported, citing IT tipster FrontTron, that Samsung Electronics is conducting tests related to applying 65W charging to the Galaxy S22.
According to FrontTron, the models undergoing 65W charging tests are all models in the Galaxy S22 series with the codename 'Rainbow,' tentatively named Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, totaling three models.
Android Authority evaluated that if Samsung applies 65W charging to the next-generation model, it could be recognized as a significant improvement. Samsung has applied 25W charging to its flagship models, including the Galaxy S21 series. Previously, 45W fast charging was introduced in the 'Galaxy S20 Ultra' and 'Galaxy Note10 Plus,' but the actual charging speed was not significantly different from using a 25W adapter.
Android Authority also pointed out that the charging speed is slow compared to competing products currently offering 65W fast charging, which is another reason for improvement. Currently, devices like the 'Xiaomi Mi11 Ultra' and 'OnePlus 9 Pro' take less than 40 minutes to fully charge, whereas the Galaxy Note20 Ultra, using 25W, takes 70 minutes to reach 100% charge.

However, it is noted that fast charging tends to degrade battery health relatively faster compared to slow charging, which remains an issue to be resolved.
