[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 15th that it will accept nominations for candidates for the ‘2021 Seoul Safety Award’ from the 16th until August 31.
Started in 2015 and now in its 7th year, the ‘Seoul Safety Award’ recognizes citizens who work tirelessly for public safety in everyday life, awarding them annually. A total of 45 awards have been given up to last year.
Nomination targets include individuals or organizations who have devoted themselves to the life and safety of citizens. Nominees must have continuously resided in Seoul for more than three years as of the announcement date, or if not residing in Seoul, their workplace must be located in the Seoul area.
Nominations can be made by individuals, administrative agencies, non-profit organizations, or private groups. If an individual makes a nomination, at least 10 signatures are required. Nomination forms and documents such as the nomination letter and achievement report can be downloaded from the Seoul Metropolitan Government website → Seoul News → Notices & Announcements → 2021 Seoul Metropolitan Government Safety Award Candidate Nomination Announcement.
Submission of nomination documents is possible via email, mail, or in-person delivery. For further details, inquiries can be made to the Seoul Safety Support Division. Submitted candidates will undergo on-site inspections and verification of achievements, followed by a fair evaluation by a committee of experts, who will select the final awardees. Plaques and other awards are scheduled to be sent individually in October.
