Plans Established to Strengthen ESG Management Including Eco-friendly Activities and Community Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] HDC IPARK Mall, a distribution specialist company within the HDC Group, and HDC Shilla Duty Free, operating urban duty-free shops in Korea, have launched support activities for their neighboring communities.
On the 9th, HDC IPARK Mall and HDC Shilla Duty Free visited the Yongsan-gu Volunteer Center in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and held a 'Summer Neighborly Love Sharing' event, the companies announced on the 13th.
The items delivered through the Yongsan-gu Volunteer Center included fans and children's safety umbrellas. These summer essentials are designed to help people stay cool and safe during the hot summer season.
An official from HDC Shilla Duty Free said, "We prepared this event to become a company that progresses together through communication and empathy with local residents," adding, "We hope that the items prepared by our employees will help local residents spend the hot summer more comfortably."
The 'Summer Neighborly Love Sharing' event is part of the practical measures to strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. HDC IPARK Mall and HDC Shilla Duty Free are systematizing ESG activities step-by-step to leap forward as a 'respected company.'
Meanwhile, HDC Shilla Duty Free regularly conducts various volunteer activities, including plogging events to clean up the surrounding environment. HDC IPARK Mall has been participating in the 'GoGo Challenge' campaign since April, using eco-friendly shopping bags and reducing the use of disposable products and plastics.
In the future, they plan to eliminate vinyl air caps used during duty-free product delivery, fully digitize printed materials, collaborate with eco-friendly material brands, support advertisements for local restaurants and foreigner guideboard production, and assist low-income children’s foreign language education projects. These are mid- to long-term plans aimed at contributing to local community development and tourism revitalization.
