North Korean Foreign Ministry Targets NATO Following the US: "Military Intervention Under the Pretext of Freedom and Democracy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized NATO, which is withdrawing from Afghanistan following the United States, saying it has "continuously carried out military interventions in other countries under the pretext of freedom and democracy."
On the 12th, North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the name of Park Hyun-song, a researcher at the International Political Studies Association, published an article titled "Can Political Systems Be Exported Through Military Power?" stating, "Wherever NATO sets foot, various social evils such as conflicts, terrorism, and migration issues are widespread."
Researcher Park pointed out, "NATO has continuously conducted military interventions in other countries under the pretexts of 'freedom,' 'democracy,' 'peace,' and 'stability,'" and noted that the widespread social evils caused by this have provoked anger among the affected countries and their people.
He also cited Western newspapers and broadcasts, reporting that "the West is saying that NATO's recent withdrawal from Afghanistan should serve as a wake-up call to abandon the foolish idea that one can export their political system to other countries through military means."
Researcher Park criticized voices in the West claiming "NATO's presence was justified," asking, "How much has Afghanistan developed in the 'better environment' that NATO provided over the past 20 years?" He also quoted left-wing figures criticizing NATO's counterterrorism efforts as failures and condemning NATO for leaving behind a destroyed country.
