USFK Also Hit by COVID Cluster Infections: "37 Soldiers and Family Members Confirmed"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Recently, as COVID-19 has rapidly spread mainly in the Seoul metropolitan area, a large number of confirmed cases have also emerged among the US Forces Korea in the Gyeonggi region.
The US Forces Korea announced on the 10th that from the 5th over a period of 7 days, 37 personnel and family members related to the US Forces Korea tested positive for COVID-19.
By unit, 24 people tested positive at Camp Casey, a US military base in Dongducheon, Gyeonggi, including 21 US soldiers and 3 KATUSA soldiers.
At Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, 1 US soldier and 2 Korean workers tested positive. Four US soldiers tested positive at Osan Air Base, and 1 US soldier was infected at Camp Hovey, another US military base in Dongducheon.
Additionally, 3 US soldiers and 2 family members at the US military base in Seongnam, Gyeonggi (K-16) tested positive.
The confirmed cases are currently in isolation at Camp Humphreys, Osan Air Base, and Korean government facilities.
The US Forces Korea are conducting epidemiological investigations together with the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and are implementing disinfection measures at facilities inside and outside the bases visited by the confirmed cases.

The US Forces Korea stated that currently over 80% of its personnel have been vaccinated, and the number of confirmed cases accounts for less than 1% of the total active-duty soldiers, maintaining a high level of readiness.
