Hyun Tae Ha, President of Hyundai Motor Company, Visits Union to Request Resumption of Negotiations
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] It is reported that Ha Eontae, President of Hyundai Motor Company, visited the Hyundai Motor labor union executive committee, which approved the strike, to request the resumption of wage and collective bargaining negotiations.
According to industry sources on the 9th, President Ha, along with three executives, visited the union office at the Ulsan plant and met with union leaders, including Lee Sangsoo, the union branch chief.
President Ha requested the union to resume the suspended negotiations.
He reportedly said, "In order to reach a swift agreement, in-depth discussions between labor and management are necessary," and added, "Let's narrow differences, seek reasonable common ground, and focus on concluding the negotiations."
The union is preparing for a strike after holding a strike approval vote among all union members on the 7th, which was passed.

Earlier, the union declared the breakdown of negotiations and applied for dispute mediation to the Central Labor Relations Commission (CLRC). A decision to suspend mediation by the CLRC is required for a legal strike.
