President Lee: "The People Saved Me from the Three Major Threats of Judicial, Physical, and Character Assassination"
President Lee Jaemyung said on May 9, "Judicial murder through fabricated indictments by the prosecution, knife murder using terrorists, and character assassination through manipulated media—these are the three grave threats to life that I have faced. The people—heaven itself—have spared my life from these threats, so my life now belongs entirely to the people."
On this day, President Lee made these remarks by sharing an article on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the 'President Lee's helicopter incident report interference' case.
President Lee stated, "Heaven has entrusted me not only with preserving my life but also with great responsibilities, so my duty is solely to build a nation for the people and to ensure that power exists only for the people." He expressed his gratitude to the people, saying simply, "Thank you." He added, "Even if my body is broken to pieces until my very last moment, I will devote all my heart and energy for the people, who are heaven itself."
Previously, the Normalization Task Force (TF) of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced that it had found evidence of inappropriate intervention by former Vice Chair and Secretary General Jeong Seungyun in the handling of President Lee Jaemyung's ‘helicopter incident report case’ during his tenure as the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea in 2024.

The Task Force reported that former Vice Chair Jeong was found to have included in the resolution document matters that had not been discussed at the full commission meeting regarding President Lee's helicopter incident report case. The Task Force explained that the department in charge had issued an 'institutional referral' opinion aimed at improving the system for the Busan Fire Headquarters staff who decided to transport President Lee by emergency medical helicopter, but former Vice Chair Jeong instructed that the case be handled as a violation of the code of conduct notification.
